The early 90s gave birth to iconic cars like the Toyota Supra, Mazda RX-7 FD and Godzilla of a beast the Nissan Skyline R32 GTR. I personally couldn’t wait for the era of boxy R31s to pass, which was like the middle bastard child. The 70s gave us the Hakosukas and 2000GT while the 90s gave us the above, both of which are generations of cars I love.
The terrible car system that we have locally made many people give up cars of their dreams and forced to move on to newer cars, with the 150% road tax for cars that have passed the 10th year mark, its simply not rationale to keep old cars.
HongYao is one of the many that decided to persevere in keeping cars of that era running on the our roads. Moving from a Suzuki Swift GTi, he then made the purchase of a Honda Civic EF-9, one of the few still in existent here.
The clock ticked past 11pm on the 18th of May. A miniscule gathering of friends gathered to embark on a 300+ KM drive up to Sepang International Circuit, to act as a support and pit crew for a friend who was participating in the Time To Attack, organized by ZerotoHundred.com.

It was at a local motor show over a decade ago that I had my foremost encounter
with the Japanese car-tuning scene. The Kodak disposable cameras in their
trademark yellow casing were all the rage back than. I still recall vividly the flashes
from these devices going off brilliantly through out the venue, as their owners
endeavored to capture the JDM models and rides on film. To date, it is still one of
the finest motor shows ever held in Singapore in my books.
Fast-forward to 2013 and we have Singapore’s principle media company MediaCorp, in cooperation with Muse Group, bringing Tokyo Auto Salon Singapore 2013 to the shores of our tiny nation-state. The inaugural Singapore show will be held at the Marina Bay Sands Expo® and Convention Centre from 12-14 April 2013.
Although this is the third S2000 to be featured on The Right Wrong, it is the first time I’m writing about a fellow editor’s ride. Forgive me for being self indulgent, but Brendan has featured two of my previous cars in different magazines, one a centrefold, and the other adorning the cover page. By penning this article, I wouldn’t say I’m returning a favour, I would say he, and his S2000, very much deserve it.
I first encountered ClubITR (Integra Type R) at World Time Attack 2012 in Sydney last year. I took the chance to do a feature of one Club ITR DC5 while I was there. This time however brought me to the Melbourne branch of the end of month meet of Club ITR. There were a handful of Integra Type Rs on hand, but it was overwhelmed by pretty much everything Honda, not just limiting themselves to that one model.
The MPT Group brought back the drag race that was once part of Singapore’s motor racing history. As Singapore is land scarce, the race is actually being held within a parking lot, and the drag strip is only 180 metres long. There are actually many other viable venue alternatives like the Changi Exhibition Centre, F1 Pit Centre, or even closing half a section of a long straight public road.
